Baby Belly - 19 Weeks

Baby is now the size of a Mango! This week's 'how big is baby' information isn't quite as cute as usual, but I did learn something new so I think I'll go ahead and post it = ) Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil, and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense). I have definitely seen the vernix on 'A Baby Story' so I now know what the white stuff they rub off the newborn baby is!

This week's pregnancy checklist item: research public and private cord blood banking. Time to do some research.

Thanks for the spell check Dad!

The Happiest Baby on the Block

This week's pregnancy checklist item was to start looking into parenting books. I just picked up The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp from the ABQ library and I placed an order thru Amazon for the following books:
The Modern Girl's Guide to Motherhood and The New Dad's Survival Guide: Man-to-Man Advice for First-time Fathers. I think that should be a good start! Please pass on any other recommendations!

Getting ready for a weekend of cleaning and organizing! Very few things on our agenda outside of that...Trav and I have a date to go see Funny People and I have a fabulous girlie breakfast date Saturday at Perennials. This restaurant has been recommended to me several times and I have yet to go! I have definitely learned that breakfast is my favorite meal while pregnant...I crave breakfast foods all day long = )

G-Day

Not that we're counting...but we're another day closer to G-Day! I will absolutely be posting the results of our ultrasound on August 5th, never fear = ) Our appt is not until 4pm but I will make sure the blog is promptly updated! We will also be allowed to record the ultrasound so hopefully on August 6th we will have a little DVD downloaded for your viewing = )

Our house is definitely ready for the weekend! We have quite a bit more cleaning and organizing to get done before the family arrives. One fantastic side-effect of getting the room ready for a nursery...we are finally throwing away all kinds of junk that has been laying around our house untouched for 2+ years! Its our own little Spring Cleaning in the summer.

Healthy Baby

Good monthly check-up and one healthy heartbeat! We are right on track = )

Dr. Appt today

We are off to visit Dr. Shelburne today and listen to the sweet potato's heartbeat! Can't get enough of that beautiful sound = ) And the countdown to G-Day continues! *G-Day as coined by Shae stand for Gender Day...

ONE WEEK until we 'assign gender'...proper terminology provided by Dr. Michael (aka - my big bro). Pretty soon the grandparents will be in town for the big unveiling!

Nursery Furniture

This is the crib and dresser we chose for our little one's nursery! You'll have to visualize a mirror in place of the hutch until we actually put the room together = ) Hopefully we have some man-power the day our furniture arrives b/c I have a feeling there will be quite a bit of furniture moving until we get the room just right! Only the best for our sweet potato!

Baby Belly - 18 Weeks

Baby is now the size of a Sweet Potato (which makes me feel a bit guilty that Travis and I were just discussing making sweet potato fries)! Baby has become amazingly mobile (compared to me at least) passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. I have definitely noticed an increase in movement, ie - kicks to the bladder and now other internal organs = ) For the past few weeks I have felt the little sweet potato moving but I didn't want to comment until I knew for sure! I must have skipped right over the fluttering/butterfly kisses stage because our little one went straight to the kick to the bladder move which is a seriously strange sensation, haha! And I love every little kick and punch...just wish I could share it with Travis!

Weekend Itinerary

Travis and I have a date tomorrow to go Baby furniture shopping! On the shopping list...crib, changer/dresser combo, and hopefully get in some Glider research. Also on the to-do list - start the process of transitioning the room currently used as Trav's home office into a baby nursery. I can't wait until we can finally put some paint on those walls!!

My Baby Purchases

In a moment of weakness last Friday I purchased a Petunia Pickle Bottom sling! It arrives today and I absolutely cannot wait to test it out...test subject, probably Remi if he'll participate = ) If not I'm sure a volleyball will suffice just to make sure I'll be able to manage something hung across my body. And my only other baby purchase goes back to April while baby gift shopping for Brindley and Dillon. I may have purchased an extra Sophie the Giraffe for our little one! So fun = )

Who's In There?

And the countdown begins! Exactly two weeks until we find out if you're a little boy or little girl!

For the Ladies...

Ok, this post has absolutely nothing to do with babies or pregnancy...but I had to share my new favorite find with my ladies! I was in the market for a new eyeliner and am absolutely in love with Bobbie Brown's Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner! I bought it in New Caviar Ink, love the color and it doesn't smudge AT ALL. You can put it on in the morning and it looks exactly the same when you wash it off at night. It is a gel so it does require a bit more practice than an eyeliner pencil (as in have makeup remover on hand when applying your first time) but absolutely worth it!

Who likes Oreos?

Not me, one bit...but I am highly susceptible to commercials (my one and only flaw, riiight) and I think it is worse now that I have the pregnancy excuse. Last night while watching TV with Trav I saw an Oreos commercial and sent him to the store asap to bring me back some of those black and white cookies = ) His argument - you don't even like Oreos! I enjoyed every bite (sufficiently dunked in milk of course) and then went to play some sand volleyball in the rain. It was a fantastic evening!

Hopefully this Oreo thing passes soon...if I start craving cinnamon, vanilla, bbq, or pickles (my least favorite foods) then I will know there is something seriously wrong with this baby!

And a little side note - Remi is currently snoring next to me = ) Hilarious!

Baby Belly - 17 Weeks

Disclaimer - I took this picture with a belly full of baby and watermelon. Travis commented that he thought I was pushing out my belly for the picture but I think its just a bit exaggerated thanks to all of the watermelon I ate around 8:30pm. Sorry!
Baby is now the size of an Onion! Average baby is approximately 5.1 inches at this time. Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. Baby's umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints!
According to my checklist it is time to sign up for childbirth classes and start working on the nursery = )

Ready for the Weekend!

This is going to be one fabulous weekend full of girlie wedding talk...poor Travis! Tonight I am getting together with Jill (my most recently engaged ABQ friend) and we are going to go over all of her wedding details in the works! She is getting married May 2010 on a Delaware beach...this is all I know so far. Crossing my fingers that we get to talk wedding dress!! I've been watching Say Yes To The Dress on DVR ever since Bri got engaged!

Saturday is Miss Tammy's bridal shower = ) I do love bridal showers and bridal shower games (I probably shouldn't admit that)! I have all of the details on her wedding b/c we discuss all things wedding while watching our boys play for the firm softball team. Many umpires have turned around to see if we're actually watching the game or just talking...its called multi-tasking, we're pros!

And to top this wedding weekend off...Bri gets into town today thru Wednesday! Her wedding isn't until October 2010 on her ranch in Texas, but she knows that if she doesn't have enough details for me by this weekend that I officially become wedding planner = ) Bring on the dresses, flowers, and cakes ladies!

Now if only Denning was in town this weekend I would have all of my little bridies around me!

Another Day, Another Nap

Once again I spent my lunch break napping! Yesterday I had tons of energy and finally felt productive after work...today, not so much. This energy business needs to stop toying with my emotions = )

Off to spend the afternoon googling adorable baby crib bedding...yep, that's what I do with my free time these days! Sage...blue...pink...too many cute nurseries to choose from!
