Feeling Much Better

I don't know if I caught a little something or if it was just allergies, but I spent all day yesterday fighting a headache and some congestion. My miracle drug...sleep = ) I slept for an hour on my lunch break and two hours after work. I felt significantly better by 9pm when oddly I wasn't very tired...and I'm pretty sure the baby was done with all of this laying around.

Travis conversation of the night - please note our neighbor's dogs are barking like crazy at 10:30pm

Travis - I hate dogs
Beth - but you like our dog right?
Travis - yes, but ours is a cat
Beth - true, true

(If you've never met Remi, he is an adorable Puggle that definitely acts like a cat, stretches like a cat, gives him self baths like a cat...the list goes on)

And I had to share my cute email from Dad - he resisted calling the baby by the fruit of the week until pretty recently = )
Dad - could you send Carlos the link to the Dole Avocado

Baby Belly - 16 Weeks

This week our baby is the size of an Avocado! Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

Saturday in Santa Fe

Jen, Nathan (husband), and Dustin (brother) were in Santa Fe for a green chili weekend so Travis and I drove up Saturday to get in some food and fun with the crew. We had a fantastic time at Blue Corn Cafe - although Jen and I were limited to talking about babies and pregnancy for 50% of the conversation - bought some delicious chocolates at a local candy store, and then went to the Bell Tower for drinks. Yes, the two preggos drank Shirley Temples while taking in the beautiful evening and views of all of Santa Fe. We had tons of fun and still made it back to ABQ in time for my ridiculously early bedtime = )

Pregnancy Side Note

I am approaching the end of Week 15 and I still have to take a 1 - 2 hour nap when I get off work! I am so ready for my energy to come back and my house is so ready for the 'nesting' to kick in! I don't mean to complain b/c I am sooo incredibly thankful that my constant nausea has gone away = )

Lets Talk Watermelon

I have apparently lost my ability to pick a good watermelon = ( This last one from Costco is completely anemic. So I have a new approach. First, I'm going to give Sams Club a chance to win me over with their fruit department. Second, I went online and refreshed my watermelon picking tips!

1. Thump test - watermelon should sound hollow
2. Little contrast between the stripes
3. Cream or yellow colored bottom

Hopefully Sam's can come thru for me!

I missed a great photo op yesterday at my sand volleyball game. We ended up playing our first game in the rain and the orange was shining thru in full glory thru my wet t-shirt. Once the rain stopped it just got humid..ugh. Oh yeah, we won = )

One for the Pregnancy Journal

I have officially gained my first pregnancy pound! I might not celebrate all of the pounds to come but it is kind of exciting to see my bump growing and note a change on the scale. I am shocked that it has taken me this long to gain my first pound given that I am still eating about every 2 hours. My body must be working pretty hard growing this baby = )

The countdown to August 5th continues!

Happy Birthday Travis!!

Waking up to presents is never a bad thing = ) Happy Birthday Hubby! We'll officially celebrate the big 2-9 on Friday and then we have a fun adventure planned for Saturday in Santa Fe! My little preggo friend Jen will be in town for some green chili dining!

Someone needs PhotoShop! Haha = )

I heart Rainier Cherries!

Fantastic news! Costco finally got in a good batch of Rainier cherries! These little guys hold a special place in my heart. It looks like they'll only be making their brief appearance this July so I plan on stocking up as much as possible = ) My watermelon season lasts longer so hopefully there is room for both in my life!

I must have been in a crazy fruit mood today b/c I left Costco with a watermelon, apples, blueberries, and cherries. I will definitely be having a little Dole baby = )

Getting Ready for Bday

Travis' 29th birthday is tomorrow so the Orange and I are going to spend today preparing for the big celebration. The birthday boy has not yet decided what he would like for his actual birthday, but I'm at least going to make him a delicious pre-birthday dinner tonight before he heads off to his last 8:30 softball game. The Orange and I will be long asleep by the time he comes home...I'll be so glad the late games are over after today!

My last volleyball season until post-baby recovery has official begun = ) I played with my 4s team last night and have my 5s team on Thursday! Hopefully baby will allow me to stay active for the next few months!

Baby Belly - 15 Weeks

We tried to get my 15 Weeks belly picture with fireworks in the background but my camera and the fireworks just wouldn't cooperate. Instead you can hardly see my belly but trust me it is growing!

This week baby is the size of a Naval Orange! Our little orange is continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby's legs now outmeasure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Baby is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb but its still a bit early for me to feel the movements. Hopefully next week I'll be able to feel my first little flutter!

Saturday, July 4th

We started off the 4th with a fantastic family BBQ at Uncle Ken & Aunt Linda's house and then made our way back downtown for the Padres / Dodgers game! Definitely a day of fun! I finally got to meet the rest of Trav's cousins including the newest addition to the family, Jules (now 1 1/2 yrs old) at the BBQ...adorable = ) We even got to participate in a chili cook-off until we had to leave the party for a little baseball.
The Padres game was a blast! Not only did we beat the Dodgers...take that all you LA kids...but we had the most amazing seats compliments of Steve & Joyce! No one sitting in front of you...no one sitting behind you, I have definitely been spoiled = ) And if you thought the $5 deal was at Subway you are wrong! Petco stadium has a 5 for $5 deal that includes a drink, hot dog, popcorn, peanuts, and a chocolate chip cookie for 5 bucks...definitely the best stadium deal I've seen.

Friday - July 3rd

You know its a good Friday when the boys go golfing and the ladies go shopping! I knew I was in trouble when Pea in the Pod was on the itinerary, but I had no idea just how much trouble! That is one amazing maternity store = ) First, I must state that maternity pants/jeans are the greatest creation! A pair of jeans that you just pull on like they are sweatpants...phenomenal! Who knew my first pair of Sevens would be maternity jeans...completely worth the cost b/c I plan on living in them for the next several months! I have no idea how I'm supposed to go back to zippers and buttons when this whole pregnancy is over = )
We capped of this fantastic day with a pre-Fourth of July party at Aunt Susi's house. This crew definitely knows how to throw a BBQ = ) We hadn't seen the fam since Christmas so it was so much fun catching up and it was the Lemon's first San Diego BBQ!

Our New Important Date

Exciting news...we have officially booked our next ultrasound to find out the sex of our little bundle of joy!! Yes, we are finding out in advance b/c there is no way I can wait 9 whole months for this juicy detail = ) August 5th is the big day!!

Also exciting is that on August 5th we will at least be able to eliminate approx half of our baby names! Our list is huge and instead of narrowing down we continue to add = )

Happy 4th of July

We are all packed and ready to head out to San Diego this evening! A 4th of July full of fireworks over the Pacific Ocean...I think I can handle that = ) We have a couple of BBQs, a Padre's game, golf, beach time, and possibly a little shopping on the schedule. This will be our little lemon's first trip to San Diego...next time will be a bit more work bc instead of carrying everything in my belly we will be traveling with baby and gear!

Classics for Baby

I am currently processing orders to the beautiful sounds of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Rondo alla Turca. Anything for Baby = ) As the CD says...I am letting the music of Bach, Mozart, Grieg, Albeniz and others enfold our baby in a warm, nurturing cocoon of sound.

Its better than the usual sound of cars driving by my home office window. Equally as fantastic as listening to Remi dream while I'm working = )
