Santa Barbara

Saturday was a great travel day! I had a fantastic flight from ABQ to LAX, got my sweet Mazda 6 from Enterprise, and aside from some traffic delays between Westlake Village to Oxnard (Oxnard Strawberry Festival) made it to Aly & Tristan's house in plenty of time to catch up, hang out, and eat some delicious dinner and Sprinkles Banana cupcakes! Pictures to follow, we took an amazing walk along the Goleta Beach and Campus Point = ) Today Aly and I are off to the Cabrillo Art Walk and to visit the Santa Barbara Zoo! I have most definitely decided that Travis and I are meant to live on the ocean...aaahhh.

Yesterday was a bit rough in the nausea department, but today I feel fantastic and plan on taking full advantage of it! My new addiction thanks to Aly...Strawberry Crystal Light packets. They make drinking gallons of water a day way more delicious!

Off to enjoy the Ziggity Bobo...Aly's technical term for Santa Barbara = )

My Ridiculously Good Looking Men!

I am going to miss these boys over the next week and a half! Thank goodness Joyce and Steve are coming to take care of them while I'm out of town = )
By the way...the first picture is what I like to call 'Remi taking a nap on the bridge'. It's one of his favorites and I usually enjoy it until my legs fall asleep from the angle and all 25 puggle pounds.

Food Aversions...

I could have titled this post 'You know you're pregnant if' but it might just be me = )

Just the thought of chicken makes me ill. Yes, my favorite meat is officially off the table...at least for the first trimester. Sad times = ( Our brand new Chick-Fil-A is definitely going to miss me over the next month or so!

And today's entertainment...while I was preparing my delicious bowl of cereal (Fiber One and Cheerios, love it) Travis was in the kitchen preparing his sandwich for lunch. When he finished with his Peppered Turkey and was putting it back in the ziploc I caught a whiff and it sent me to the bathroom fighting off what would have been my first vomit of the pregnancy. Who knew that Peppered Turkey would be the one to come closest to taking me down!

Eating Well

It is officially nap time and then my big plan for the day is to read a few chapters out of 'Eating Well When You're Expecting'. I wonder where the pizza that I am currently craving falls in this book...pro or con = ) I also really want my Dion's greek salad but I have to make sure the feta cheese is pasteurized before I give in to that craving!

A New Day

Yesterday topped the charts so far on my morning sickness = ( I literally felt nauseous from the moment I woke up until about 7pm. Fortunately I felt better just in time for the Biggest Loser finale and some much needed house cleaning! I even missed Travis' softball game where he at least got the one RBI of the night (he's my Sutin hero).

Feeling much better today which is a good sign = ) I'll be working at the Dole headquarters all next week so we'll see how well this morning sickness works out with a real office job. I leave Saturday to spend the weekend with Miss Aly and Tristan up in Santa Barbara. Then Monday morning I will head down to Westlake Village for the rest of my week in Cali. And to make this an extra long trip, I will head from LAX to Minneapolis on Friday for a four day volleyball tournament. Hopefully baby cooperates with all of my fantastic travel plans!

Pregnancy news of the week - I have chosen an OB doctor and booked my next exam! Travis and I will be going to the Lovelace Women's Hospital on Saturday, May 30th for our next check-up and to hear the baby's heart beat!! Cross your fingers until then!

Baby Belly - 7 weeks

Our little blueberry! Baby is now the size of one of my favorite superfoods = ) Baby's brain is growing fast, generating about 100 new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys is now in place.

Dairy...all day long...

Week 7 takes me back to my Trinity days of eating cereal for every meal. I know...not the healthiest choice at Mabee dining hall but who doesn't love a good bowl of cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I have now learned that I can eat cereal, yogurt, cheese, basically all dairy products without feeling nauseous! It's fantastic = ) We will no doubt go thru a gallon of milk every few days, but I love that it makes me feel better. Good news is that my pregnancy journal says that all of that milk and calcium is really important at this time for baby. And don't worry Mom, I still throw in protein, fruit, and vegetables. AND RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF WATER!

Boo Ya Ka Sha

Baby survived its first Lobo League volleyball tournament last night! I have not been allowed to workout for two weeks now and it has been torture. I got the green light for working out again on Friday from my doctor so we played with my vball team (Boo Ya Ka Sha) and won the whole tournament. I'll take this week's baby belly picture wearing my championship t-shirt ; ) I was so nervous to workout just bc I have nausea and low energy all of the time but it turns out that playing volleyball was the best I have felt in the last two weeks! Thank goodness for those fantastic endorphins.

My same team is off to Nationals this month in Minneapolis! Hopefully we can win that tournament also! The scary part...Nationals will officially be the return of wearing spandex...I don't think they're going to look quite the same as they did in college ; )

The Caveman's Pregnancy Companion

We decided it was finally time to buy Travis his own pregnancy book...a survival guide for expectant fathers! I can't wait to see what words of wisdom are captured in this book!

This is adorable but it would clearly hurt Remi's feelings...the world of onesies is dangerous!

Our 1st Ultrasound

Travis and I went to our first ultrasound yesterday...what a fantastic birthday present! Baby is growing right on track and is exactly at the 6 weeks 1 day development! It looks like we were only off by one day. He or she (my Mom is convinced its a girl...very scientific I'm sure) is 0.41 cm and has a little heart beating at 127 bpm. We were even able to see the heartbeat (a tiny little blinking light on the monitor. Beautiful!

And now its time to share a little too much. To do the ultrasound they told me to drink 20oz of water an hour before my appt. I suppose they are not aware that I am drinking so much water that I have to run to the restroom at a minimum twice an hour...ridiculous. So waiting an entire hour for my appt was torture and the first portion comprised of pushing down like crazy on my belly. That was the most awkward and uncomfortable 5 minutes of my pregnancy so far! I was thrilled that she confirmed that she saw the sac and there was only one baby...and way more thrilled that she told me I could go empty my bladder ; )

And second, I have officially learned my lesson...only eat itty bitty meals throughout the day. Travis and I tried to go out to eat last night for a little pre-birthday celebration and I have never felt worse. Guess that means today's real birthday meal will be an apple, and then two hours later some carrots, and then two hours later some yogurt...you get the idea...

Baby Belly - 6 weeks

Baby is the size of a sweet pea! Growing like crazy, baby is starting to sprout eyes, ears, nose, cheeks, and chin. Those little hands and feet might wiggle by week's end, the heart is beating (almost twice as fast as mine) and blood is starting to circulate.

1st Ultrasound tomorrow!

Exciting News...

The nausea that I've had in the evenings seems to be an all day event now = ) Yippee! Jodi and I celebrated our May birthdays last night with our workout group and I spent the last hour feeling really ill. That was followed by nausea all night, followed by nausea this morning...oh and nausea right now. Its not actually that bad, I just hope this isn't the start of full blown morning sickness!
Tonight I am off to cheer on the Sutin softball team ; ) Hopefully our boys can pull off their first win of the season this Cinco de Mayo!

Brindley's Baby Shower

I had a fantastic weekend in Houston! We showered Brindley, Dillon and Baby Dalton with lots of love and some awesome baby gifts! Baby clothes are just too adorable! It was so much fun getting to spend the day with family = ) It was a fantastic shower all the way to the point around 10pm where we all lost a combined $70 to a 2 1/2 yr old playing a dice game ; ) I am going to practice and take down little Jackson next time!

And I had a fantastic evening Friday celebrating Lindsay's 29th bday and my impending 28th = )

A huge thank you to Lindsay, Brindley, and Staci driving me all around Houston! And another huge thank you to Uncle Dick for buying breakfast for the whole crew Sunday morning! Hopefully you all will see this post in a month when we finally share the good news, haha!

Keeping a Secret

This is torture waiting to tell our family and friends that we are expecting! Today I emailed Travis that I couldn't handle it anymore...had to tell someone. This is the response I got back:

Back slowly away from the computer and phone. Take a deep breath and consider what you are saying. If you need to consult a professional, please do so immediately.

He then informed me he does not approve of blogging ; )
